The demise of Bambi~

Last night, Justin came in the house around 6:30 p.m. I'm not sure if I've ever seen him so excited before...he was breathless! Well, long story short, he harvested a 250 pound, 10 point buck out by my parent's cabin in their woods. It was a very good lookin' deer, if I might say so myself! (Dad still holds the record w/ his big 280 pounder from last year) Congratulations, Honey! (We love having venison in the freezer!)

Bet'cha didn't know we're slight hillbillies. :) :)

What we do for entertainment around here!

Here's Justin impressing the fam with is hand-stand abilities. I told him, he'll have to join the circus! Ha! Samuel thought Dad was pretty cool! :) (This is in place of tv entertainment)

Sad

This is the first family picture we've taken since William was born...whoa, that's pretty sad! Plus, it's a self-portrait. Maybe this weekend we'll take some family pictures! I'm loving the beautiful fall colors!

The Boys

William is 15 weeks old! He is such a cheerful guy, pretty much all the time!

Samuel was sick this day...but he still wanted me to take his picture.

Jump! My boys like the mobile!

Recipe

For the laundry soap recipe, you can go to:

www.thefamilyhomestead.com/laundrysoap.htm

Washing Soda is by Arm and Hammer, but don't get it confused w/ Baking Soda. It is in a large box and looks like the baking soda box. I found Washing Soda at a local Amish grocery store...I don't think Walmart carries it, but you could check.

The laundry detergent itself smells like Mexican laundry soap. Ha!! (Right Elia?!)
I think the soap smells like the Fels Naptha bar...kinda, um soapy! I've heard you can use essential oils for a scent, but I haven't tried it. The laundry doesn't have any scent when it comes out of the dryer, but I'm sure a dryer sheet or fabric softener could give a nice "laundry" aroma, if you like it.

There's my $0.02!

Domestic Engineering~

Well, I've done it; I've attempted to make my own laundry soap. And I might add that it has proved to be successful. Last Sunday night, I decided to attempt the fancy concoction of Fels Naptha soap (grated), Washing Soda, Borax and about 2 gallons of H2O. I made it while I was cleaning up the kitchen and it took only about 20 minutes out of my day. I still use my Spray N' Wash and sometimes throw in a 1/2 cup of borax. Even Justin's dirty work clothes come out clean. I guess I'm convinced and making 2 gallons only cost me $0.71!!
