Betty Crocker #2--Therese made William this adorable car cake! So glad my sisters have so many talents...they come in handy every now and then! Therese was asking Samuel what kind of cake he wanted for his birthday...but Leah and I quickly told Therese not to get his hopes up, since it'll be me and Leah making his cake, and not the Family Cake Baker. I was thinking Oreo Dirt Cake w/ the little gummy worms and a few fake flowers. Sounds like my level of cake baking.

Baby Shower...

Mom, the girls, Leann, and I hosted a shower for our cousin's wife, Tricia on Saturday morning. It's really funny, b/c she and Ryan's family is almost exactly like ours: 4 girls and now Baby Boy soon to be born. (Even the spacing is exact, except for the last 2) We were thrilled to help them celebrate and Baby received a lot of cute, boyish outfits, blankets, books, and diapers. All ready now...just need that little guys to arrive! Congrats Ryan and Tricia, Tayloran, Avery, Addisyn, and Braelyn!

I had to post this hilarious picture of us. Funny how differently babies can be carried in utero! Some more compactly, some more WAY out in front! And guess who is due first? (Not me!) We'll see when the babies decided to come, but Tricia is due a week before me. I better be having a good size baby, to look so much bigger. Ha!

Grandma Bobbie has made all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren beautiful afghans. My boys drag theirs + mine around the house. Actually Baby Boy received adorable blankets from all his grandmas that were there. Plus his oldest sisters made him one too; they were quite proud of their project. (reminded me of Krista and me, when Max was born...we were so excited. Such a fun age to have a new sibling)

William and Birthday Cake

Being the ever-practical mother, I was thinking of what to get William for this 1st birthday. (he's oblivious anyway, right?!) I just can't bring myself to by my children the plastic singing/ringing/noisemaker toys. (not saying I wouldn't buy one of those annoying toys for my nieces or nephews...or that my kids don't like them--they do!) (Thank you Auntie Leah!!) :P So, William got things he needed: a brand new bib, a new lift-the-flap book, a new t-shirt (can't beat $1.99 sale for solid tees) and a new toothbrush. (and I have to keep telling Samuel...we do not share toothbrushes!) Samuel was more excited about William's birthday than William was. (can you tell?)






And just for the fun of it...to show you all how gi-normous I am getting. At the end of yesterday, I couldn't help but take this picture. Don't look at me...look at my tummy. (just click to enlarge-ha!) I seriously feel a month bigger, more pregnant, and more uncomfortable than I am. My sisters agree that I'm as big now as when I delivered William. I still have 4-5 weeks to go still. Ohmygoodness...

(FYI: My boys were early: S by 3 weeks and W by 2 days...S was 6 1/2 lbs and W was 7 1/2 lbs and both were around 18-19 inches long)

More Weekend Photos

~Sunday included more celebrating. My Grandparents had a cookout at their house after Church. Lots more family time. Justin spent the afternoon getting our flat tire repaired. :) We made it home by 9:30 p.m. All this week I've been playing catch-up on laundry and sleep. Regardless, we're all richer w/ the memories we made.

From the weekend

We had a fun weekend celebrating my Grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary. We have such good examples from all of our Grandparents of long lasting marriages! It was so fun to see all the relatives and chat (or try to...) w/ everyone! Somehow I managed to get a bunch of pictures, but missed the guests of honor! Saturday night, my Aunts and my Mom organized a scrumptuous dinner downtown to celebrate.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Buddy! William is 1 year old today!

My 1st post somehow erased. Isn't that annoying? Well, as I was saying...I can't believe how fast a year flies by and how much babies change from newborn to 1-year-old-toddlers. Amazing! Time for another baby, eh?! In just a few weeks (or days) William will be a big brother. We'll see if girly decides to be early like the boys, or not. I'm trying to assume I'll go to my due date or over, just so I'm not disappointed. (ha!)

William is such a blessing to our family. He is the most smiley little guy, and has been since he was newborn. I remember right after he was delivered, he didn't cry, but was wide-eyed looking all around. No, he didn't smile right then, but several weeks later, he turned into the smiley, giggly little boy he is now. I'm so thankful God gave William to us. I think he and Samuel will be buds...and definitely, he can hold his own already. He's the one that tackles Samuel.

The boys and I were reading parts of Proverbs 2 today. I decided to claim it and pray it for William. We prayed God would give us:
1. wisdom
2. understanding
3. knowledge

"My son, if you will receive my words, and hide my commandments with you; So that you incline your ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding...Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He lays up sound wisdom for the righteous; he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly...That you may walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous."
