B/c of my crazy post at 3 this morning, I thought I should say that things have slowed down and the backache is gone. The Lord knew that I needed some time to tackle my long to do list. :) Still waiting for my washer to be repaired so I can catch up on the mountain that's accumulating in the laundry room. Currently, I'm off to rest, while the boys are down. Even though Baby may not come today, I know she's soon to arrive. While driving to go get William's milk, we listened to our favorite scripture cd, and I was reminded of this verse:
"Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him."

Baby Time?
It is currently 3:07 a.m. and I am up w/ contractions and a low backache. Not sure if this is just lovely false labor symptoms, or if it's the real deal. I suppose I'll know if it continues. Hmm...maybe I should try to eat or drink something. Going back to bed sounds nice too. But the reason I'm up, is b/c I couldn't sleep. :) I have a long to do list today...that may have to wait. I'm kinda curious how this labor will go, since w/ the boys my water broke first thing. I'm not exactly sure what early labor feels like, since I didn't have it w/ the boys. We are getting excited to meet this little girly, whenever she decides to arrive. Just so I'm not overly optimistic, I've been trying to convince myself I still have a week and a half to go. :) Time will tell, I suppose.

~Blueberries~
I should've taken some pictures of the beautiful blueberries, but I just finished putting the rest of the 40 lbs of them in the freezer. Next week I'm hoping to get a second batch. Our family likes to eat them right from the freezer, in desserts, and on cereal throughout the winter. Blueberries are super-easy to preserve, and very healthy---my kind of deal. Well, I'm kinda chuckling at writing a post about blueberries, but I thought there should be some preface to the recipe I'm about to post. I just took this loaf out of the oven and it's the 1st time I've made this bread. It comes from Williams Sonoma's Bread Book. It's definitely worth sharing. Madeline also has a taste for zuchinni bread too, but I need to wait till my zuch's are ready. Let me waddle into the kitchen and go get the recipe...Here it goes:
Sour Cream-Blueberry Bread
2 med-ripe bananas
2 cups flour (I used freshly milled 7 grain flour)
3/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cups chopped pecans
2 lg. eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 heaping cup of blueberries, fresh or frozen
Preheat oven to 350 and grease a loaf pan.
Mash bananas well w/ a fork and set aside.
Stir together flour, sugar soda, salt, cinnamon, and nuts. In another bowl, wisk together eggs, sour cream, vanilla, butter and bananas. Stir wet and dry ingredients until moist. Carefully fold in blueberries. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 50-60 minutes. Let cool in pan on a rack for 30 minutes. Turn the loaf out onto the rack and cool completely.
Then enjoy w/ a tall glass of milk.

I'm reading through the book of Joshua. It seems I get stuck reading through the Gospels and when I get finished w/ those, I head to Proverbs, doing my one a day for the whole month just because I can't think of where else to go. So, my sister, totally relating, said, "How 'bout the book of Joshua?" Yeah, good idea!! I just finished the part about Jericho falling down and Rahab and her family being saved from the destruction. I tend to forget to look at the whole of Scripture. The Bible is relevant from beginning to end, Old and New Testament. I'm ready to read about the defeat at Ai and Achan's sin.

With my present state of uncomfortable largeness and preoccupation w/ the events soon to happen, I've also been encouraged by 2 verses in particular this week:
"Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient unto today is the evil thereof." Matthew 6:34
"And He said unto me, 'My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me....for when I am weak, then am I strong."
2 Corinthians 12:9

More Celebrating
Let's spit out...I mean, blow out the candle!
Betty Crocker #2--Therese made William this adorable car cake! So glad my sisters have so many talents...they come in handy every now and then! Therese was asking Samuel what kind of cake he wanted for his birthday...but Leah and I quickly told Therese not to get his hopes up, since it'll be me and Leah making his cake, and not the Family Cake Baker. I was thinking Oreo Dirt Cake w/ the little gummy worms and a few fake flowers. Sounds like my level of cake baking.

Baby Shower...
Mom, the girls, Leann, and I hosted a shower for our cousin's wife, Tricia on Saturday morning. It's really funny, b/c she and Ryan's family is almost exactly like ours: 4 girls and now Baby Boy soon to be born. (Even the spacing is exact, except for the last 2) We were thrilled to help them celebrate and Baby received a lot of cute, boyish outfits, blankets, books, and diapers. All ready now...just need that little guys to arrive! Congrats Ryan and Tricia, Tayloran, Avery, Addisyn, and Braelyn!
I had to post this hilarious picture of us. Funny how differently babies can be carried in utero! Some more compactly, some more WAY out in front! And guess who is due first? (Not me!) We'll see when the babies decided to come, but Tricia is due a week before me. I better be having a good size baby, to look so much bigger. Ha!
Grandma Bobbie has made all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren beautiful afghans. My boys drag theirs + mine around the house. Actually Baby Boy received adorable blankets from all his grandmas that were there. Plus his oldest sisters made him one too; they were quite proud of their project. (reminded me of Krista and me, when Max was born...we were so excited. Such a fun age to have a new sibling)

William and Birthday Cake
Being the ever-practical mother, I was thinking of what to get William for this 1st birthday. (he's oblivious anyway, right?!) I just can't bring myself to by my children the plastic singing/ringing/noisemaker toys. (not saying I wouldn't buy one of those annoying toys for my nieces or nephews...or that my kids don't like them--they do!) (Thank you Auntie Leah!!) :P So, William got things he needed: a brand new bib, a new lift-the-flap book, a new t-shirt (can't beat $1.99 sale for solid tees) and a new toothbrush. (and I have to keep telling Samuel...we do not share toothbrushes!) Samuel was more excited about William's birthday than William was. (can you tell?)
And just for the fun of it...to show you all how gi-normous I am getting. At the end of yesterday, I couldn't help but take this picture. Don't look at me...look at my tummy. (just click to enlarge-ha!) I seriously feel a month bigger, more pregnant, and more uncomfortable than I am. My sisters agree that I'm as big now as when I delivered William. I still have 4-5 weeks to go still. Ohmygoodness...

~Sunday included more celebrating. My Grandparents had a cookout at their house after Church. Lots more family time. Justin spent the afternoon getting our flat tire repaired. :) We made it home by 9:30 p.m. All this week I've been playing catch-up on laundry and sleep. Regardless, we're all richer w/ the memories we made.

From the weekend
We had a fun weekend celebrating my Grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary. We have such good examples from all of our Grandparents of long lasting marriages! It was so fun to see all the relatives and chat (or try to...) w/ everyone! Somehow I managed to get a bunch of pictures, but missed the guests of honor! Saturday night, my Aunts and my Mom organized a scrumptuous dinner downtown to celebrate.
