Lots of Babies

It seems like there's a baby boom...lots of people I know are either expecting or just had their babies. Babies bring such expectation and hope! We had fun hosting a baby shower for our good friend, Elisha. She used to babysit all 5 of us kids when we were little. (I'm sure we prepared her well for motherhood...hee!) We loved her as a babysitter b/c she did "fun" stuff w/ us. And we didn't have to go to bed till we saw our parent's headlights coming down the road...then we made a mad dash to pick up the house and dive into bed....But, anyway...yesterday afternoon we had fun visiting and celebrating the arrival of their new little one.

I've exchanged my "hardboiled face" for a smiley one! My brother was so funny that day...he kept talking to me in a high voice and saying "Hi Madelwynn...how are you?" He's pretty goofy.
My other brother doesn't say much, he just makes a bee-line for me whenever I'm w/in his reach. Yesterday, Mommy caught him giving me a zerbert on my eye. It was slobbery too. She reassured me that he was just trying to love me w/ a kiss. Hmm...I don't think I like kisses. (only mommy's :)


Here's me and my Daddy. We're pretty tight, ya know. I don't get to see much of him. He's been workin' so hard for us. (so my Mommy can stay home w/ us) He leaves while it's still dark out (Mommy says about 4 or 5 in the morning) I'm usually havin' a little snack then. Or else the alarm wakes me up, and I think it's morning. But we usually go back to sleep. Then he gets home when it's dark too...around 7 or 8. Goodness that's a long day. No wonder Daddy looks like he can hardly keep his eyes open for the picture. (He's just like William though...still smilin')



And here's a few of me and Mommy. Just a lil' photo shoot. Mommy thought I looked adorable. I was bright eyed and bushy-tailed peering over her shoulder. We were the only ones home, so we had to do some self-portraits. Kinda goofy, but Mommy thought my expressions were cute enough to put on here. Mainly so Auntie Krista could see me. (She misses me a lot, and so does Gracie Girl)


Mommy can't figure out who I look like. Sometimes like Daddy, sometimes like Mommy, sometimes like Samuel...hmm...

New Sneakers...

The Goff boys' wardrobe is 99.9% hand-me-downs. (we love them...thanx Isaac!) Well, today, they were blessed w/ new tennies, thanks to my friend, Kelsey, who told us about the great sale today at the Outlet Mall~ I thought 4 pairs of cute "stride rite" tennis shoes for $40 bucks was a good deal. (considering that all the other ones were either $30 or dorky looking) I'm still trying to remind myself that buying "new" doesn't = super cheap. I'm just used to garage sale prices, I suppose. $10 for a pair of *new* shoes IS a good price. :) Can't believe Samuel's a 10.5 W and William is a 5.5 W. (platypus feet run in my family...I'll admit that)

Bonus for Mommy: they're slip on/velcro!! I've decided that the tie shoes aren't for our family.
Note to Boys: gum boots are for outside, mud and dirt. These tennis shoes are "dress up shoes" (not takin' those to the cabin! :)

FIELD TRIP

...last week we took a field trip to Lincoln Log Cabin...I remember going (and dressing in period attire) in the 5th grade. I thought it was a blast! (remember, Krist?) **we LOVED playing pioneers till, who knows when...we were probably about 12 and 13...ha!! Anyhoo...it was fun going back and learning some more history. Amazing how people lived back then...very self-sufficient! Nothing like today. I think I'm more dependent on modern conveniences than I even realize. I have no reason to complain and every reason to be content!

I realized as I was looking at the picture...we have children at every age from 7 on down. There's 7,6,5,4,3,2,1,0!! (that was fun typing that!) And us Moms...I'll just let ya' guess our ages. *smile*




It's really fun to go when there's lots of historical interpreters acting out the part...they're pretty good!

Taffy Apple Salad

I was just reminded of a fall-time treat...Taffy Apple Salad! I'm making my fast, "mock" TAS right now for a little snack:

Vanilla Yogurt
Diced apples
Chopped walnuts
Cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves to taste

Mix up and enjoy! It's actually a good alternative, if you have a taste for it, but don't have the time. Or, at least I think it is. :)

Update on the Kiddos

To all you Aunties, Uncles, Cousins, Grandmas, and Grandpas who live far away...here's an update. When I get a few spare minutes, I'll try and upload more of our family pictures.
